Did JFK achieve the goals outlined in his inaugural address?
JFK gave his Inaugural Address over 50 years ago. The themes he addressed on January 20, 1961 served as important aspects of his presidency. JFK served as the 35th President for only 1000 days before he was assassinated. During his brief tenure, JFK did make some progress. Specifically, his domestic agenda addressed Medicare, a significant tax cut, federal aid to education and civil rights legislation. These initiatives were not implemented, however, until Johnson's presidency. Additionally, in his speech, JFK promised a man would walk on the moon before long and that occurred. Internationally, JFK also had success although limited by his death. JFK is responsible for avoiding a nuclear war over the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 with the Soviet Union.
In conclusion, JFK did live up to his Inaugural Address to the best of his ability before he was killed.
